There's some local nexus (a highway crossover, close by mine), and at first just a small restaurant gets built, but then maybe a hotel, a chapel, etc. Truck stops get put together sort of haphazardly over time. Stuff like that.įor DS2, we were mostly thinking of it as an interstellar truck stop/Highway interchange. Did you know there are several people's jobs on aircraft carriers who's job it is just to refill the vending machines? Most of the industrial signage on board ("somebody expects you home tomorrow") are taken word-for-word from real construction site safety signs. The Ishimura was mostly based on a combination of offshore oil rigs and aircraft carriers. Dead Space was developed by Visceral Games and published and owned. We tried as much as possible to research real places and base our stuff on that. Dead Space is a science fiction/horror franchise created and directed by Glen Schofield. So, it's not like we haven't seen those movies or they're not an influence, but if you only reference other creative works, you're going to make pretty derivative stuff. ![]()
